Loyola Marymount University

Loyola Marymount University is a midsize LA based Jesuit research university whose mission requires The Encouragement of Learning; The Education of the Whole Person; and The Service of Faith and Promotion of Justice. With an overall freshman acceptance rate of 45%, applicants are required to apply to a major and some popular majors, like Film and Psychology have acceptance rates in the low teens. The admission team warns not to try to game the system by applying to a less popular major and later transferring in because no one drops these programs and so the transfer path isn’t viable. The Film School boasts all the equipment and resources to produce a full-scale production and equipment is upgraded annually. Other nationally ranked programs include Engineering, where students take general education/engineering classes for the first two years giving them an opportunity to study abroad, Teaching and Business Administration.
